5 Month Pictures

Nebulizers and New Teeth!

Happy 5 Months, my sick little man!!

Poor Ian, 5 months old and so sick! Well actually, he's on the upswing now, but it's been a hellova week! Sunday, Monday and Tuesday were by-far the worst. He wasn't eating or was throwing up everytime he ate. He had diarrhea and was quite lethargic. We took him to the ER Monday night then the pedi Tuesday. He was 18 pound 9 ounces on Friday, 17 pounds 10 ounces on Monday and 17 pounds 7 ounces on Tuesday. That's a 7% body weight loss!

We seem to have a few things figured out now. From what the pedi gathers, Ian has asthma that was triggered by this virus. Because he's having a hard time breathing when he coughs, he's throwing up whatever he ate. He was given a nebulizer treatment at the pedi office and we have been doing them here at home as well. He has definetly improved since we've started the treatments. He hasn't thrown up at all and is slowly getting back into the swing of eating.

He has officially cut his first tooth, and I'm have a really hard time getting a picture of it, but I'll post the best one I have so far. He was also 5 months old yesterday! We took a few of his monthly pictures, but his attention span was very short, so we took the remainder of them today. When I saw we, I mean both Charles and I. Charles has been home sick for the last 2 1/2 days! I've also been sick, so we're a pretty germy little family!

Hopefully Ian and I are well enough to go to our mommy/baby get-together we have planned for this Saturday at the Children's Museum. I'm anxious to meet other moms in the Madison area!

Is is Friday already?

The week just flew by! I've found a nice way to make days go by faster is to make it a point to take pictures of Ian everyday. He was a smiling, happy baby for the most part of the week. Then Thursday came. He came down with a cough and a runny nose and was sooo fussy! Thursday night I was letting him chew my finger and low and behold, I felt a little ridge of a tooth! His first one ever! It's just peeking through the skin, and apparently causing him quite a lot of pain because he sure is crabby! I tried and tried to take a picture of it but that was next to impossible. Every time I put my finger in there to push his lip back, he chomps on me! We'll get a shot of it sooner or later.

Last night because he was coughing so hard, he threw up 3 times! This morning I decided I should call the pedi just to see what they had to say. They wanted to see him, so I brought him in. They said he either has a cold, or asthma?! They wrote us a prescription for a nebulizer treatmeant and said to try it with him. If it helps him, he probably has asthma. If it doesn't help him, then he just has a cold. We're definetly hoping for a cold!

We put him to bed just over an hour ago and he's already woken up screaming once, so I imagine this is going to be a loooong night. We also have a very busy weekend ahead with Betch's 60th birthday tomorrow! Wish us luck, hopefully Ian won't be a hellion!

Anyhow, here's a few pics from this week's photo shoots! Enjoy and happy weekend!

Lots of pictures and a longer update!

Ian is still growing like a weed! This weekend I went through all his clothes and took out everything that didn't fit anymore. This left his closet looking quite a bit more empty! Looks like we'll have to do some shopping once the weather gets a bit warmer. No sense in buying anymore winter clothes now. It was very bittersweet to put away all his little outfits. There are so many memories attached to them. I remember bringing him home from the hospital in one of his Packer sleepers. He was DROWNING in it. I looked at it as I packed it away and couldn't believe he ever fit into it! It's sooo tiny!!

It also looks like Ian is done with his bouncer seat. He's pretty bored just sitting in there and gets ansty after just a few minutes. The swing will probably be next to go.

We made a trip to Babies R Us today to buy Ian's new carseat, a gate for the top of the stairs and an umbrella stroller for short trips to the store. Man, babies are EXPENSIVE!!!

Ian has pretty much mastered the art of sitting up by himself. He also laughed out loud for the first time last week! I was laying in bed and he was sitting on me and I was blowing raspberries on his hands and he started laughing! It was the sweetest sound!
We've officially made the switch to cloth diapers and cloth wipes. We're trying to do our part and put less junk in the landfills and also save ourselves some money in the long run! It was a pretty big investment but so far, so good. We decided to get the Bum Genius 3.0 pocket diapers. They sure aren't your grandmother's cloth diapers with pins and plastic covers. They're quite high tech! Ian is wearing them in the pictures of him sitting up above. They come in fun colors, too!

The pictures above are just some current pics I've taken. Can't get emough of this little guy!

Long time, no post!

Wow, it's been a while since I updated this thing. First and foremost, Happy Birthday to Grandpa Corcoran on March 20th! Also, Happy belated Easter everyone! The pictures above are from Easter weekend... dyeing eggs and right after church all dressed up.
