We had quite a roller coaster of a week. Tuesday night as I was putting Ian to bed I noticed a light rash on his belly. It didn't seem to bother him too much so I was going to see how it was in the morning. Wednesday morning it was worse so I called the pedi and made an appointment for late that afternoon. Luckily Charles had went into work early and was coming home early because we had planned on going grocery shopping. The rest of the day Ian was pretty cranky and just wanted to be held. When he wasn't fussing, he was sleeping, a lot more than usual. After Charles got home we headed off to the doctor's office. They took a look at him and said he has a virus and there wasn't much we could do, just give him Tylenol or Benadryl if he seemed bothered by it. Oh and they weighed him... 15 pounds 14 ounces!!!
After the doctor's office we went to Charles' parents house to pick up some things that we'd left there and to have dinner. After dinner and some visiting, we were hoping to hit up Target on the way home at get a few groceries and get Ian some Benadryl. While driving on the beltline, just 2 miles from our exit, our tire blew out! GREAT! Poor Charles had to lay in a snowbank while trying to change the tire with no flashlight because the battery was dead in the one we had in the truck. Ian was FREAKING out in his carseat. He screamed and screamed. I didn't want to take him out because I was afraid if someone hit the car on the side of the road, he'd go flying. Finally after 20 minutes of crying I couldn't take it anymore. I got him out, put him in his snowsuit, wrapped him in a blanket and held him outside the car. He calmed down just in time to put him back into the car where he was screaming the rest of the way home.
Thursday I drove Charles to work in the morning and then headed home to get ready to take the car in and do some shopping. I made it to the mechanic shop right around 12 to find out there was a 2 hour wait before they could even get the car IN. So I drove to a nearby mall and did some walking around in Barnes and Noble with Ian in the front carrier. I got the car back to the mechanic and waited another hour while they put new tires on it. It must have really needed it because the car felt SO much smoother from there on out. I went back out towards the mall and hit up Babies R Us and a few other stores while waiting for Charles to get off work. After I picked him up, we FINALLY did our grocery shopping. Ian was such a trooper the whole day, but he really fell apart at the end of the grocery shopping. We were supposed to be having Elliot over for dinner that night but had to cancel because of everything going crazy.
I was so happy when Friday came along. It was a pretty standard day home with Ian, same old routine. Unforuntely, Charles had to work 2 hours late :( I really look foward to 5o'clock everyday when he gets home and it's hard when he has to work overtime. He is actually on the schedule to work this weekend, too. He has to work every 7th weekend, so it's not that bad, and he doesn't work all day, but it still sucks.
Yesterday after he was off work we went to lunch with his parents at TGI Fridays then did some shopping on the eastside. Nothing too exciting. It's Sunday already and Charles is at work this morning. The weather is awful here. It's raining outside, but there is a layer of ice on the sidewalks and streets with water ontop which makes everything very slippery. We're supposed to get another 7-10 inches of snow tonight. I can't wait till spring so I can take Ian out for walks in his stroller. I have major winter cabin fever.
I need to make time this week to take a few more pictures of Ian. He's so close to sitting up on his own! The pictures above are from throughout the week. The first two are of Ian in a silly looking outfit we got as a gift. He later threw up on this outfit. The third one is Ian sitting in the mail basket while I'm clipping coupons on the bed!
